Grassfed Lamb Hampers

Exciting news! Our Lamb Hampers will be available for order with our next MOOsings. Our lamb is consciously raised, chemical free, 100% grass fed and hormone free. When we say grass fed, we mean that the sheep have access to a variety of pasture plants – grasses, forbes, legumes and more (like with our beef). As well as this, the sheep browse the lower leaves of different trees and shrubs. This all contributes to a diet that is very diverse, which is great for their health and great for our health.

Last week we ran a trial of our lamb hampers and after working through cuts with our butcher we have decided on a choice of two hampers – the Whole Lamb Hamper and the Half Lamb Hamper.

Whole Lamb Hamper

  • 2 x packs Chump Chops – 4 per pack
  • 1 x Leg Roast, bone in – approx. 2.1kg
  • 1 x Leg Roast, easy carve – approx. 1.7kg
  • 2 x packs lamb ribs – 9 per pack
  • 4 x packs Loin Chops – 4 per pack
  • 2 x Racks Lamb – 4 points per rack
  • 3 x packs Lamb Cutlets – 4 per pack
  • 2 x packs Forequarter Chops – 4 per pack
  • 1 x Shoulder Roast – approx. 1.5kg
  • 1 pack Neck Rosettes – 5 per pack
  • 2 x packs Diced Lamb – approx. 550g per pack
  • 1 x pack Mince – approx. 750g
  • 1 x pack Shanks – 2 per pack

 

Half Lamb Hamper

  • 1 x pack Chump Chops – 4 per pack
  • 1 x Leg Roast, bone in
  • 1 x pack lamb ribs – 9 per pack
  • 2 x packs Loin Chops – 4 per pack
  • 2 x pack Cutlets – 4 per pack
  • 2 x packs Forequarter chops – 4 per pack
  • 1 x pack Shanks – 2 per pack
  • 1 x pack Diced lamb – approx. 550g
  • Either/or of these in each half:
    • 1 x pack mince – approx. 700g
    • 1 x pack neck rosettes – 5 per pack

 

Feedback from our trial has been wonderful and Derek & I have enjoyed a variety of lovely lamb meals so far. Grilled Chump chops, Lamb Biryani and some Herb, Lemon and Garlic crusted Lamb Racks that Derek cooked for my birthday just recently, that were especially delicious! I will share this recipe in due course.

Lamb racks are a wonderful meal to cook for guests and this is probably the one hamper variation that we will offer. If you would like the cutlet component of a Whole Lamb Hamper left as lamb racks, we can do that. This then gives 4 lamb racks  – enough to cook up for a dinner party.
